Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen

Colonial treasury of the 18th century that is considered the only sanctuary in Latin America with four identical towers.

 

Dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen, whose image came from Spain. According to the story, the ship was wrecked and the image was rescued by the sailor Laurent Graff who took it to its destination.

The image of the Virgin of Carmen was taken as a standard in the war of independence, being thus named general of the local army.
